1) What are the costs and the deadlines? This year’s EastCon will be free for Princetonians, but will charge a $25 registration fee for out-of-town guests. However, those who sign up by the Early Bird Registration deadline (March 28th, 2014) will have their registration fee waived. The final registration deadline is April 18, 2014.
Housing and meals will be provided to all out-of-town guests. Note – this is a change from earlier. If you request housing, you will get hosted by a Princeton student. Transportation WILL NOT be provided by EastCon and are the responsibilities of the attendee.
2) How do I get to Princeton University? You can check Princeton’s official directions website (http://www.princeton.edu/main/visiting/travel/driving/), but if you want a summary see below. It depends on what type of transportation you are taking:
- By air, Newark International Airport is the closest and most convenient airport to travel to and from Princeton, NJ. From this airport, use the AirTrain to get to the NJ Transit. From the NJ Transit, choose the Northeast Corridor line to Princeton Station train station (Not Princeton Junction Station). You’ll get off at Princeton Junction Station and connect to a small train called the “Dinky.” It’ll take you right to the campus of the University. (See the interactive map for more details: http://www.princeton.edu/~pumap).
- By train, again, the Northeast Corridor Line will take you the Princeton Station VIA Princeton Junction Station. When you get to Princeton Junction, connect onto a smaller train which leaves from a separate platform at Princeton Junction. It’ll take you right to the campus of the University. (See the interactive map for more details: http://www.princeton.edu/~pumap).
- By Car or Bus, check this website for directions: http://www.princeton.edu/main/visiting/travel/driving/
3) Where is there guest parking? Check this website to learn more about visitor parking. http://www.princeton.edu/main/visiting/aroundcampus/parking/
4) Where is the conference? We’ll be in the Lewis Library, Room 120. Click here for the interactive campus map: http://www.princeton.edu/~pumap/.
5) Can I find my own housing? Yes! If you know students in Princeton and don’t want to get assigned, you will be able to indicate this on your registration form.
6) What are good places to eat around Princeton? Explore this website to find out great places to eat: http://www.princeton.edu/main/visiting/region/restaurants/. There are a lot of restaurants in Downtown Princeton which is walking distance away from our campus. Most of the restaurants are long Nassau Street.
